Graphite Portrait
Our lesson will be a portrait focused on light and shadow, as well as the nuance of rhythm and geometry that are fundamental to good composition. Participants will be encouraged to work with a limited palette to focus on the values of their drawing. The goal of this workshop is to get the participants to understand the underlying elements of a strong composition.
Artist statement/Bio:
Shaihiem Small is an artist currently based in Edmonton Alberta, originally from Toronto Ontario. who primarily works in the mediums of acrylic paint, graphite on paper and tattooing. Shaihiem is a graduate of MacewanFi ne Arts graduate and has participated in various pop-up art shows across Edmonton and the 5 Artist 1 Love show at the Art Gallery of Alberta, twice. His art explores themes concerning the ethos of cultural identity and the sublime nature of expanding universal consciousness in connection with an individual. This artist is currently balancing a fine art and tattoo career in his community of Edmonton.
